Psychological Services for Children & Teenagers
We provide both psychological assessments and psychologcial therapies for children and teenagers.

What Is Psychological Assessment?
As a first step, the psychologist needs to gather information about the individual’s behaviour, abilities and other characteristics. Putting this information together, the psychologist is then able to evaluate the individual to diagnose any psychological condition and/or learning disorder, before finally making appropriate recommendations.
Our psychologists are able to assess diverse mental health problems (e.g., anxiety, depression, substance abuse) and developmental and learning disorders (e.g., dyslexia, ADHD, autism) in a range of clinical, educational and forensic. Assessment data may be gathered through interviews, observation, standardised tests, self-report measures, parent and teacher questionaires.
The end result of the process is a psychological profile providing insight to the individual’s cognitive, learning, emotional, behavioural and social aspects of their life.

What to expect at the first appointment?
Our psychologist will first meet with the child/teenager seeking an assessment. For children, we will meet the child together with his/her parents to gather information and understand the behaviours.
After the first meeting, we will schedule follow-up appointments for you or your child to come in for the assessment sessions. The time required depends on what needs to be assessed. Typically most individuals require two hours for an intelligence assessment or four to six hours if ADHD, autism or dyslexia assessment is required.
Often, self-report measures such as teacher, parent questionnaires are also administered. Other tests may be used to assess whether the individual is experiencing emotional disorders such as anxiety or depression. For children, our psychologist will request to take a look at schoolwork. All the tests and tools will help the psychologist understand the nature of the problem, and to figure out the best way to go about addressing
Once the testing and questionnaires are completed, our psychologist will analyse the data sets, and prepare a psychological report. Our psychologist will have a parent session to share the findings of the assessment and give recommendations on how to address the underlying issues. Clinicians at FY Psychology have over 20 years of experience conducting psychological assessments and our reports are recognised by local and international schools, and judicial systems.
